Learn more is not an invention of the American Redoubt. It echoes the Christian Reconstructionist movement developed by Cold-War era survivalists Rousas Rushdoony and Gary North. In his 1973 book “The Institutes of Biblical Law,” Rushdoony conceptualized how a new Christian society might rise from the ashes of nuclear war.

“Rushdoony spent a lot of time imagining what a Christian society based on the Bible would be like,” Clarkson said.
