As Gingrich tells Southern Republicans Obama is “radical,” “secular,” and “socialist,” his friend David Barton was on Glenn Beck promoting the country’s “Judeo-Christian heritage.”

Though it may be unhelpful to draw comparisons between the administration and fascist regimes, it’s important to recognize the “family resemblances” in their political reasoning and self-conception.

It’s difficult to believe that Newt’s role as critic of Obama’s foreign policy has as much to do with patriotism as with raw political ambition.
