Evan Derkacz

Executive Editor of Religion Dispatches

Evan Derkacz has been the editor of Religion Dispatches since its launch in 2008, before which he was an editor at Tikkun magazine and AlterNet. When not busy editing pieces on evicting white Jesus or the ex-president’s theological devotion to border walls, he has served as a judge for foundation grants, the National Magazine Awards, and the Webby Awards; consulted for the Social Science Research Council’s religion and digital media programs; and led workshops for scholars seeking to write for the broader public. His writing has appeared in McSweeney’s, AlterNet, The Huffington Post and elsewhere.
