Sheila Sheereen Akbar holds a BA and MA from Harvard University in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. She is currently pursuing a double PhD in Comparative Literature and Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Her main interest is the use of violent imagery in sixteenth century Persian love poetry and comparable imagery in early modern Italian, French, and English literature.
